ObjectivesWe are pursuing two objectives with our project. On the one hand, we want to make a contribution to bio-diversity and, on the other hand, our project should have a value for nature teaching methods. We have created a wild bee pasture on the disused site of the Burglengenfeld quarry, which is no longer in operation, in order to attract and promote all species of wild bees. They can also find the best conditions for building nests, e.g. cliffs and wooded groves in direct proximity to the direct project area. In order to increase bio-diversity and to satisfy the local conditions in the quarry, we developed a structure which is similar to limestone grasslands. Typical species of pasture plants were added for limestone grasslands, in order to obtain an attractive bee pasture. We were able to retain different species of limestone grassland species, but at the same time promote rare species of wild bees. We also want to make a contribution to nature teaching methods with our concept. Our goal is to make the bee pasture accessible to the public and above all an "experience". In addition, the pastureland was laid out in a unique way, which emphasizes the different flowering times, lengths of flowering and colours. After successful planting of the wild bee pasture, the area will be integrated into guided tours of the quarry, which already take place, and will thus be presented to the public.
